A concurrent RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE newberry college women's field
hockey TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO
HONOR THEM FOR finishing as national runner up in the NCAA Division II national
tournament.
W
hereas, the South
Carolina General Assembly is proud to recognize the Newberry College women's
field hockey team for an outstanding season; and
W
hereas, the Newberry
College Wolves finished national runner up in the NCAA Division 2 national
tournament and won the South Atlantic Conference regular season and postseason
tournament titles. The team posted a 20-1 overall record and 10-0 in the South
Atlantic Conference, winning a school record of twenty consecutive games; and
W
hereas, the Newberry
College women's field hockey team has flourished under the leadership and
guidance of Head Coach Hannah Dave, who was named National and South Atlantic
Conference Coach of the Year. Head Coach Dave and assistant coaches Khotsofalo
Pheko and Tamsin Bangert were named the Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the
Year; and

hereas, the Wolves
team boasts many talented players, including Parker Keeler, the NCAA Division 2
National Player of the Year and South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of
the Year; Emma Westbrook, recognized as First Team All-America and South
Atlantic Conference; Payton Keeler, recognized as Second Team All-America and first
team All-America; and Wibien Dahmen, recognized as Second Team All-America and
first team All-South Atlantic Conference; and

hereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly appreciate the pride and recognition that
the Newberry College women's field hockey team has brought to its school and
community and look forward to future accomplishments by the team and its
talented athletes. Now, therefore,

e it resolved by the
Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
T
hat the members of the
South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Newberry
College women's field hockey team, coaches, and school officials on an
outstanding season and honor them for finishing as national runner up in the
NCAA Division 2 national tournament.
B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Newberry College women's
field hockey team and Head Coach Hannah Dave.
