A concurrent RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE Coach Michael "Mike" Carlisle upon
his induction into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame.

W
hereas, the South
Carolina General Assembly is proud to recognize Coach Michael "Mike" Carlisle upon
his induction into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame; and

W
hereas, a native of
Aiken, Michael "Mike" Carlisle walked on to the Clemson University Golf Team
where he earned three varsity letters and competed on the 1980 team that became
the school's first to qualify for the NCAA championship; and

W
hereas, he has devoted
more than thirty-five years to collegiate golf as head coach of the University
of South Carolina Aiken men's golf team. Under Coach Carlisle's leadership, the
Pacers have earned thirty-one NCAA Tournament appearances and captured three
NCAA Division II National Championships; and

W
hereas, Coach Carlisle
has received national recognition for sustained coaching excellence as the
three-time NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year, as an eight-time NCAA
Regional Coach of the Year, a seven-time Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year,
and a 2010 inductee into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame;
and

W
hereas, Coach Carlisle
excelled as an amateur golfer, winning the Carolinas Amateur, the South
Carolina Mid-Amateur, and the Palmetto Amateur three times, and earning berths
in the U.S. Amateur Championship; and

W
hereas, Coach Carlisle
has used his immense talents to give back to South Carolina's golf community.
He helped establish the Aiken Chapter of the South Carolina Junior Golf
Association in 1989, and under his leadership, the chapter grew to over two
hundred junior golfers in five years. Since its inception, the chapter has
hosted more than five hundred and eighty events. Coach Carlisle also helped
develop a par 3 short course for young golfers, played an instrumental role in launching
the First Tee program in Aiken, and worked with the Clemson Tiger Golf Camps;
and

hereas, Coach
Carlisle's career stands as a remarkable dedication to the game in every form,
as a competitor, coach, mentor, and builder of opportunities for others. For
his lasting contributions to the sport of golf in South Carolina, he has been
selected as the eightieth inductee into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame;
and

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina General Assembly proudly recognize and congratulate Coach Michael
"Mike" Carlisle on his induction into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame,
thank him for all he has done to advance the game of golf in the Palmetto
State, and extend best wishes for continued success. Now, therefore,

Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

hat the members of the
South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Coach Michael
"Mike" Carlisle upon his induction into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame.
