RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND
RECOGNIZE BOB CATHEY FOR HIS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS AND YEARS OF SERVICE TO HIS
COMMUNITY.

W
hereas, Bob Cathey, a
native of Anderson County, has spent many years of his life working tirelessly
within his community. He is a cattle farmer and egg producer who has lived on
the same farm in Anderson for his entire life; and

W
hereas, he is a
graduate of Anderson Boys' High School and in 1964, at just 20 years old, he
started the Cathey Egg Farm, selling eggs to local restaurants and markets in
the Upstate; and

W
hereas, Mr. Cathey
started buying cattle in the mid-1970s. Through the 1990s and into the early
2000s he had one of South Carolina's largest cattle herds, maxing out with an
impressive 1,000 head of cattle; and

W
hereas, he founded and
owns Skeeter Branch Duck Hunting Preserve with his beloved wife Leila and their
son Daniel Cathey. The small-scale hunting preserve is a true family business
with his grandson, Rivers Cathey, also helping as a guide and duck caller. They
have been operating in Lavonia, Georgia, for over two decades, while continuing
to do business in Anderson; and

Whereas, every year the Cathey family hosts
around 1,500 hunters at Skeeter Branch, which has a "duck hunt of a lifetime"
guarantee. Yearly they release 9,000 ducks during the hunting season. Their
lodging can host up to 20 people at a time. They also offer many exceptional
amenities, such as home cooking, accommodation for dogs, guides, and duck calling.
The property includes the original hunting lodge, a new bunk house, a skeet
range, an outdoor picnic area with a fireplace, and a remodeled cabin
originally constructed in the 1800s. The care and dedication that the Cathey
family shows toward making sure every costumer leaves happy is a testament to
Bob Cathey's hard work and pride in his business; and

W
hereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are thankful for the hard work and dedication to the
Anderson community that Bob Cathey has shown over the years. Now, therefore,

B
e it resolved by the
Senate
:

T
hat the members of the
South Carolina
Senate
, by this resolution,
honor and recognize Bob Cathey for his many contributions and years of service
to his community.

B
e it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Bob Cathey.
