A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION recognizing National FFA week.
WHEREAS, the FFA Organization is represented in every state and in South Dakota through
the South Dakota FFA Association, which is comprised of one hundred thirteen chapters and
more than six thousand three hundred members serving communities in every region of th is
state; and
WHEREAS, agricultural education and FFA provide a vital foundation for the youth of South
Dakota and the nation, strengthening the future of agriculture, food production, natural
resources, and rural communities; and
WHEREAS, FFA promotes leadership, personal growth, and career success among its
members; and
WHEREAS, FFA members are encouraged to practice integrity, respect, and service, while
honoring the opportunities and responsibilities inherent in agriculture and rural life; and
WHEREAS, agricultural education and FFA ensure a continuous pipeline of skilled,
knowledgeable, and innovative young professionals to meet the evolving needs of modern
agriculture; and
WHEREAS, the FFA motto, “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to
Serve,” reflects the values of hard work, responsibility, and community service embraced by
its members; and

WHEREAS, FFA fosters citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism, and cooperation among
students, strengthening both their communities and our state;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundred First Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that National FFA Week will be held from February 21-28, 2026.
