A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION honoring James Hanssen, a member of the
Bridgewater-Emery School District Board of Education, on his forty years of
school board service.
WHEREAS, the 2025-26 school year marks James Hanssen’s fortieth year of school board
service, and the Associated School Boards of South Dakota honored him with the
Distinguished Service Award; and
WHEREAS, James has displayed an exceptional commitment to school board work
throughout his tenure on the school board; and
WHEREAS, James’s years of service on the school board provide an exemplary display of
dedication to the students, staff members, and the community of the Bridgewater -Emery
School District;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundred First Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that James Hanssen, of Emery, South Dakota, deserves honor and
respect for his continuing efforts to enhance the educational opportunities for K -12 students
in this state.
