AN ACT

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the life and achievements of the late Charlie
Kirk.
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk was born on October 14, 1993, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and
rose to prominence as a dedicated advocate for American values and the American way of
life; and
WHEREAS, at the age of 18, Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA, an organization
committed to promoting free markets, limited government, fiscal responsibility, and
constitutional liberties among young people on college campuses across the nation; and
WHEREAS, through Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk inspired thousands of students and
fostered a new generation of young leaders and activists who engaged in civic discourse and
political participation; and
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk served as a close ally and advisor to President Donald J. Trump,
contributing to national policy discussions and grassroots efforts that emphasized patriotism,
economic opportunity, and individual freedoms; and
WHEREAS, Charlie Kirk's influential voice reached millions through his radio show,
podcasts, books, and public speaking engagements, all of which he used to champion causes
such as border security, religious liberty, and the protection of Second Amendment rights;
and
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was tragically assassinated while
addressing an audience at Utah Valley University, cutting short a life of profound impact at
the age of 31; and

WHEREAS, the untimely death of Charie Kirk left a void in the United States and across
the world, inspired a renewed commitment to the ideals he espoused, and reminded all of the
importance of civil engagement and resilience in the face of adversity;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives of the One Hundred
First Legislature of the State of South Dakota, the Senate concurring therein, that the
Legislature honors the memory of Charlie Kirk for his unwavering dedication to Ameri can
principles, his role in empowering youth, and his contributions to American political discourse;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislature extends its deepest sympathies to the
family, friends, and colleagues of Charlie Kirk, and encourages the people of South Dakota to
reflect on his legacy as a model of passionate advocacy and public service.
