A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION honoring Dr. Margaret Becker as the recipient of
the 2025 Copic Humanitarian Award.
WHEREAS, Dr. Margaret Becker, a board-certified family medicine physician, has provided
comprehensive care to patients of all ages at the Monument Health Spearfish Clinic and has,
for the past eight years, also served as the medical director of the Good Shepherd Free Clinic
in Spearfish; and
WHEREAS, through her work with the Good Shepherd Free Clinic, Dr. Becker has
addressed the health needs of countless individuals, who would otherwise have had to forego
medical attention; and
WHEREAS, for her unwavering dedication and selfless service, the South Dakota State
Medical Association presented Dr. Becker with the 2025 South Dakota Copic Humanitarian
Award; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Becker designated the Good Shepherd Free Clinic as the recipient of the
$10,000 Copic donation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundred First Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that Dr. Margaret Becker, the recipient of the 2025 Copic Humanitarian
Award, has expended innumerable hours providing volunteer medical services and helping to
improve the day-to-day lives of countless patients in western South Dakota.
