A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION honoring the achievements of Canton C -Hawks
wrestling team coach Jeremy Ask.
WHEREAS, Canton C -Hawks wrestling team coach Jeremy Ask was a two -time state
champion wrestler at St. Ansgar, Iowa, and went on to wrestle for Iowa State University; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy Ask coached wrestling in Alcester, South Dakota, and, in 2001, began
his career as a head coach in Canton, South Dakota; and
WHEREAS, Jeremy Ask began coaching the girls wrestling program in 2021, when it was
first sanctioned by the state; and
WHEREAS, in 2024, Jeremy Ask assumed the role of assistant coach in order to mentor
new coaches; and
WHEREAS, in 2026, Jeremy Ask became the only wrestling coach in South Dakota history
to have coached both a girls team and a boys team to state championships in the same year;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundred First Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that Coach Jeremy Ask, through his appreciation for and dedication to
the sport, has left an indelible mark on high school wrestling in Canton and in th e state of
South Dakota.
