A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION celebrating the life and legacy of Casey Joe
Wilson.
WHEREAS, Casey was the beloved husband of Carleen; father of Ailee, Landree, Breck,
and Bryer; son of Randy and Darla; brother of Cody and Cullen; and friend to all; and
WHEREAS, Casey was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and his
love for team roping allowed him to travel across the country and participate in numerous
rodeo competitions; and
WHEREAS, Casey was a proud member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe; and
WHEREAS, Casey was a skilled farrier, gifted craftsman, passionate musician, and shrewd
businessman; and
WHEREAS, Casey loved life and carried with him a deep appreciation for the people and
places that helped form the man he was; and
WHEREAS, Casey was instrumental in founding the South Dakota shared parenting
movement and never hesitated in advocating for his belief that children should have the
greatest possible opportunity to cultivate healthy relationships with both parents;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundred First Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that Casey Joe Wilson gave so much of himself to his family, friends,
and community, and in return, the Legislature extends its sincerest condolences to his family.
