Present law provides that certain
records or information of any state, county, municipal
,
or other public employee or former employee, or applicant to such position, of any law enforcement officer commissioned
by the governing boards of public institutions of higher education
, or of any federal law enforcement agent or officer conducting an op
eration in this state, in the possession of a governmental entity or any person in its capacity as an employer
must
be treated as confidential and
must
not be open for inspection by members of the public
. One such type of record or information includes r
e
sidential information, including the street address, city, state and zip code, for any state employee; and
the r
esidential street address for any county, municipal or other public employee
. This bill expands this provision to protect residential informati
on, besides just the street address, for any county,
municipal, or other public employee
.

AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section
10-7-504, relative to public employees.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 10-7-504(f)(1)(D), is amended by
deleting the subdivision and substituting:
(D) Residential information, including the street address, city, state, and zip
code, for any state, county, municipal, or other public employee;
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
