ON MARCH 26, 2026, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 400, AS AMENDED.

AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to require the department of education to do the following:

(1) Develop
guidance for Tennessee accelerating literacy and learning corps (TALLC) members on how to align tutoring services for students with the remediation the student needs and with the academic standards adopted by the state board of education for the student's
grade level;

(2)
I
nclude information about the effectiveness of TALLC in its Tennessee Learning Loss Remediation and Student Acceleration Act progress report;

(3) In the progress report a comparison of the effectiveness of after-school learning mini-camps, learning loss bridge camps, summer learning camps, and tutoring services provided by TALLC members in remediating learning loss and improving student acade
mic performance; and

(4)
P
rovide LEAs with a list of secure data management systems that utilize platforms capable of tracking the effectiveness of intervention methods, resource allocation, and student progress in real time across all schools in the LEA. The systems listed must
be capable of complying with relevant privacy laws. An LEA will not be required to utilize a system listed by the department.

AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49,
relative to education.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-136(c)(1), is amended by
deleting "May 1" wherever it appears in the subdivision and substituting "May 15".
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
