Changes to Military Recruiting Access in Schools

This bill changes how military recruiters can access Tennessee high schools and students' information by removing old rules and setting new requirements.

What This Bill Does

  • Removes the requirement for public senior high schools to provide military recruiters with campus access or student directory information if other career or educational groups have such access.
  • Requires each public senior high school to allow armed forces recruiting representatives onto the campus at least once a month during lunch periods and at least once every other month when school is in session to inform students about military careers.
  • Changes references from 'military forces' to 'armed forces'.
  • Ensures that if schools share student directory information with career or educational groups, they must also provide it to armed forces recruiters.
