AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 3;
Title 4 and Title 15, relative to the Old Time
Bluegrass and Fiddlers' Jamboree.

WHEREAS, it is our privilege to recognize those long-running events that foster
community, honor tradition, and celebrate excellence in the arts; and
WHEREAS, one such event is the Old Time Bluegrass and Fiddlers' Jamboree in
Holladay, which has been a cherished Tennessee institution for sixty-seven years; and
WHEREAS, the Jamboree was founded in 1957 by an intrepid local high school senior
class to serve as a fundraiser for their school; the event showcases the talents of fiddlers from
Tennessee and surrounding states; and
WHEREAS, a key fixture of the Old Time Bluegrass and Fiddlers' Jamboree that
beckons virtuosos from across the State is the West Tennessee Fiddlers' Championship, which
is held annually in Holladay on the third Saturday in April; and
WHEREAS, the premier fiddlers' championship of the Volunteer State, the contest has
the honor of being recognized as the West Tennessee Fiddlers' Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Old Time Bluegrass and Fiddlers' Jamboree is committed to preserving
the heritage of old time and fiddle music, and it is richly deserving of our recognition; now,
therefore,
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. The annual winner of the Old Time Bluegrass and Fiddlers' Jamboree is
hereby declared the state champion fiddler in this state.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
