Amendment 1-0 to HB1056

Plain English: The amendment adds a new subsection (b) to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-7-119, which provides a 25% tuition discount for children under 24 years old whose parents are full-time employees of public school systems in certain positions.

  • Adds a new subsection (b) to the existing law that allows a 25% tuition discount on state higher education institutions for students under 24 if their parent is a full-time employee of a public school system, excluding specific teaching roles.
  • The discount applies only in academic years where the general assembly has provided enough funding to cover the loss from the discounted tuition.
