ON MARCH 30, 2026, THE HOUSE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED HOUSE BILL 2149, AS AMENDED.

AMENDMENT #1 rewrites this bill to authorize a
n LEA or public charter school
to
continue a disciplinary investigation of a student who, during the investigation, withdraws from the LEA or public charter school.

If a student withdraws from an LEA or public charter school during a disciplinary investigation of the student and the student later reenrolls in the LEA or public charter school, then the LEA or public charter school may discipline the student in accorda
nce with the LEA's or public charter school'
s policy based on the results of the disciplinary investigation of the student.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-308, is amended by deleting the
section.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
