AN ACT

relating to compliance by a fire department with certain minimum

standards adopted by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 419, Government Code, is

amended by adding Section 419.0471 to read as follows:

Sec.

419.0471.

EXTENSION TO COMPLY WITH COMMISSION

STANDARDS. (a) A fire department may request an extension from the

commission to comply with the minimum standards adopted under

Section 419.047. The commission shall grant a request for an

extension if the fire department provides evidence the commission

finds sufficient to justify the extension.

(b)

The commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement

this section.

(c) This section expires September 1, 2027.

SECTION 2. Not later than April 1, 2026, the Texas

Commission on Fire Protection shall adopt the rules required to

implement Section 419.0471, Government Code, as added by this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives

a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as

provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this

Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this

Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
