A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to a study by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute on

wireless energy transmission for electric vehicles.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. STUDY ON WIRELESS ENERGY TRANSMISSION FOR

ELECTRIC VEHICLES. (a) The Texas A&M Transportation Institute, in

consultation with the Texas Department of Transportation, shall

conduct a study on wireless energy transmission for electric

vehicles.

(b) The study must:

(1) assess the various methods, including the use of

magnetic induction, to transfer power wirelessly to electric

vehicles while the vehicles are in motion;

(2) evaluate the feasibility of implementing the

methods described by Subdivision (1) of this subsection on roads in

this state;

(3) identify roads, with priority given to toll roads,

for implementation of the methods described by Subdivision (1) of

this subsection; and

(4) estimate the financial and any other benefits to

this state of implementing the methods described by Subdivision (1)

of this subsection.

(c) Not later than September 1, 2026, the Texas A&M

Transportation Institute shall submit a report to the legislature

that includes the results of the study and any associated

recommendations.

SECTION 2. EXPIRATION. This Act expires December 31, 2026.

SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September

1, 2025.
