A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to information on local regulations governing the

placement of political signs in a municipality.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Section 259.003, Election Code, is amended by

adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows:

(e)

The governing body of each municipality shall publish on

the municipality's Internet website:

(1)

a copy of any local regulation governing the

placement of political signs in the municipality's boundaries; and

(2)

a map outlining any area in the municipality in

which the placement of political signs is specifically regulated or

prohibited.

(f)

The clerk or secretary of the governing body of a

municipality shall provide a copy of the local regulations and map

described by Subsection (e) to:

(1) each candidate for an office in the municipality;

(2)

the elections officer of each political

subdivision whose boundaries cross into or are contained in the

municipality's boundaries; and

(3)

the county chair or clerk of each political party

in the county in which the municipality is located or, if the seat

is vacant, the state chair of that political party.

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
