A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to transportation planning by metropolitan planning

organizations.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Section 201.9911, Transportation Code, is

amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:

(d)

In developing a transportation plan under this section,

each metropolitan planning organization shall consider the

transportation needs of individuals who receive services from:

(1) the Health and Human Services Commission; or

(2) the Texas Workforce Commission.

SECTION 2. Section 201.9991, Transportation Code, is

amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:

(c-1)

A metropolitan planning organization that requests

financial assistance from the commission must submit evidence to

the commission that transportation providers within the boundaries

of the planning organization have considered meeting the

transportation needs of individuals described by Section

201.9911(d), including by adjusting the providers' fixed routes to

address the needs of those individuals.

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
