A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to a toll-free telephone hotline established by the Texas

Department of Transportation for reporting dangerous road

conditions.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Subchapter J, Chapter 201, Transportation Code,

is amended by adding Section 201.813 to read as follows:

201.813.

TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE HOTLINE TO REPORT

DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS.

(a)

The department shall establish and

maintain a toll-free telephone service line that enables a person

to report dangerous road conditions on a road in the state highway

system.

(b)

The department may contract with any person for the

management and operation of the toll-free telephone hotline

established under this section.

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
