A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the rating of child-care providers participating in the

Texas Rising Star Program that install certain safety barriers.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Subchapter G, Chapter 2308, Government Code, is

amended by adding Section 2308.3157 to read as follows:

2308.3157.

OUTDOOR SAFETY FEATURES FOR TEXAS RISING

STAR PROGRAM PROVIDERS; GRANT PROGRAM. (a) The commission shall

provide for a higher rating under the Texas Rising Star Program for

a child-care provider that installs crash-rated bollards or other

similar safety barriers adjacent to areas of the child-care

provider's facility where children and staff are most likely to

gather including playgrounds and entrances to the facility.

(b)

The commission shall adopt rules to administer this

section.

SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date

of this Act, the Texas Workforce Commission shall adopt rules

necessary to implement Section 2308.3157, Government Code, as added

by this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
