A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to an application for a warrant to seize a cruelly treated

animal.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. This Act may be cited as Parsons's Law.

SECTION 2. Section 821.022(a), Health and Safety Code, is

amended to read as follows:

(a) If a peace officer or an officer who has responsibility

for animal control in a county or municipality has reason to believe

that an animal has been or is being cruelly treated, the officer may

apply to
the following for a warrant to seize the animal:

(1)
a justice court or magistrate in
:

(A)
the county
in which the animal is located;
or

(B)

a county adjacent to the county in which the

animal is located; or

(2)
[
to
] a municipal court in
:

(A)
the municipality in which the animal is

located
; or

(B)

a municipality adjacent to the municipality

in which the animal is located
[
for a warrant to seize the animal
].

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
