H.C.R. No. 131
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and David Gardiner Mitchell
and Ginger Lane Mitchell celebrated this joyous milestone in their
marriage on March 22, 2025; and
WHEREAS, David Mitchell and the former Ginger McDonald met at
a high school basketball game in Refugio, and they were joined in
matrimony in 1975 at First Baptist Church in Victoria; over the
years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes
their children, Matthew and his wife, Gretchen, and Gabriel and his
wife, April, as well as their grandchildren, Miranda, Marianna,
Gage, Jackson, Jameson, and Lyla; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchell graduated from Texas A&M University
with a degree in petroleum engineering, and over the course of his
career, he has worked for Pennzoil, Houston Oil and Minerals,
Northwind Exploration, Sundown, and Smith Production;
Mrs. Mitchell earned a bachelor of business administration degree
from The University of Texas at Austin, and she is a devoted
homemaker, a small business owner, and a retired court reporter for
Gillespie County; respected members of their community, Mr. and
Mrs. Mitchell have supported numerous charitable endeavors and
nonprofit organizations through the years, such as those providing
women's care and children's education; moreover, Mr. Mitchell has
coached a number of youth basketball teams, and Mrs. Mitchell has
given generously of her time and talents to the Zonta Club of
Fredericksburg; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell have enjoyed five decades of
abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby congratulate David Gardiner Mitchell and Ginger Lane
Mitchell on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
