H.R. No. 1012
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Adalixa Gómez Velasquez of Hickey Elementary School
has been nominated for the 2025 Plano Independent School District
Elementary Teacher of the Year award; and
WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to
become successful and productive adults, and those men and women
who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference
in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Gómez is the fourth-grade bilingual teacher at
Hickey Elementary; a native of Honduras, she graduated from the
University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in
interdisciplinary studies and a master's degree in curriculum and
instruction with a specialization in bilingual education; she also
holds certifications in bilingual and early childhood through
sixth-grade education; and
WHEREAS, Adalixa Gómez exemplifies the passion,
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Adalixa Gómez Velasquez on her
nomination for the 2025 Plano Independent School District
Elementary Teacher of the Year award and extend to her sincere best
wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Gómez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
