H.R. No. 1022

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Cash Kociela passed away on September 24, 2024, at

the age of nine, and memories of this vibrant and caring young boy

will forever endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him;

and

WHEREAS, Born on January 22, 2015, Cash was the beloved son

of Alexa Grimland and Don Kociela, and he is greatly missed by his

sister, Taylor, with whom he loved to swim and ride bicycles around

the neighborhood; he grew into an energetic and naturally athletic

youngster who could outrun every child on the playground at his

Montessori school, and he was guided through life by his

adventurous spirit and his desire to explore the world around him;

and

WHEREAS, Accompanied by his best friend, Jace, Cash

fearlessly and playfully roamed his neighborhood, scaling fences

and building makeshift forts; he loved animals, and he developed an

affinity for the outdoors at an early age; he greatly enjoyed

playing basketball and going fishing with his grandfather, Larry

Grimland; in addition, his compassionate nature and his willingness

to help others made him a cherished friend and readily endeared him

to both his peers and older generations; and

WHEREAS, Although the tragic passing of Cash Kociela has

brought an incalculable loss to the many people who held him dear,

they may find comfort in knowing that their lives have been forever

enriched by the love, laughter, and joy that they shared with him;

now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Cash Kociela and

extend deepest condolences to his family and friends; and, be it

further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cash

Kociela.
