H.R. No. 1024
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce is
hosting its annual Lemonade Day Galveston County event on May 3,
2025; and
WHEREAS, A nationwide program designed to teach children
entrepreneurial skills, Lemonade Day was first brought to Galveston
by the chamber's education committee in 2012; each year during
Lemonade Day Galveston County, children in kindergarten through
fifth grade operate lemonade stands and are responsible for
creating a budget, setting goals, serving customers, and repaying
investors; participants learn business skills and financial
literacy while also developing confidence and self-reliance; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by area businesses, Lemonade Day
Galveston County includes kickoff parties, including those at local
schools and youth organizations as well as a larger celebration,
along with a lemonade tasting contest and a variety of other events;
the initiative serves to unite Galveston's business and educational
communities and to raise awareness of the chamber among area
residents; and
WHEREAS, Through its Lemonade Day program, the Galveston
Regional Chamber of Commerce is helping Galveston County's youngest
residents to reach their full potential and to become engaged and
productive members of their community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate Lemonade Day Galveston County
hosted by the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce and extend to
all those associated with the program sincere best wishes for a
successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the chamber as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
