H.R. No. 1030

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The celebration of National Foster Care Month in May

and National Foster Parent Appreciation Day on May 31, 2025,

provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the Building Future

Families organization for its advocacy work in behalf of foster and

adoptive parents; and

WHEREAS, There are approximately 28,000 children in foster

care in the State of Texas, and Building Future Families was

established in 2015 to serve as a voice for foster and adoptive

parents in Texas; the nonpartisan, nonprofit organization's

objectives are to advocate for foster and adoptive parents in

public policy issues, to educate and engage foster and adoptive

parents, and to provide counsel to those who are facing challenges

related to the fostering or adopting process; and

WHEREAS, Building Future Families worked with foster parents

on a Bill of Rights for Foster Parents in the interest of bringing

positive change to the foster care system; the organization also

works to inform foster and adoptive parents about the legal

proceedings pertaining to fostering and adoption; and

WHEREAS, The well-being of foster children is a matter of

tremendous concern to all Texans, and Building Future Families is

to be commended for the invaluable work it has done to support

foster families and to meet our state's foster care needs; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby honor Building Future Families on the occasion

of National Foster Care Month and National Foster Parent

Appreciation Day and extend to all those affiliated with the

organization sincere best wishes for continued success with their

important work; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
