H.R. No. 1056
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Community Council of South Central Texas is
celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding with the Hope in
Action Community Luncheon in Seguin on May 15, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Established on May 11, 1965, as the Community
Council of Comal County, this venerable organization adopted its
current name in 1971 to reflect its expanding service area; today,
CCSCT supports vulnerable individuals and families in 31 counties
in South Central and West Texas; and
WHEREAS, CCSCT works to address poverty by empowering
low-income individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency;
as part of its mission, the organization administers the Special
Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children
(WIC) and the Head Start school readiness program within its
service area; it also sponsors a range of initiatives that provide
assistance with housing, utilities, and home weatherization and
that expand access to computer technology; moreover, its Veterans
Financial Assistance Program offers support to former service
members and their families; and
WHEREAS, For six decades, the Community Council of South
Central Texas has made a lasting and positive difference in the
lives of area residents, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing
the organization on this special milestone in its history; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 60th anniversary of the
Community Council of South Central Texas and extend to all those
associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued
success with their important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Community Council of South Central Texas as an
expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
