H.R. No. 1068

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, For four generations, the businesses in San Antonio

owned and operated by the Ramirez and Correa families have

contributed greatly to the vitality of the community, and Brian

Correa is continuing his family's proud legacy with his many

endeavors; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Correa's great-grandfather Joe Ramirez

established Bar America in 1942, and over the decades, it grew into

a beloved Southtown neighborhood fixture that won over countless

patrons with its laid-back atmosphere and Fiesta parties; in 2014,

Brian Correa took over operations of the bar from his grandfather

Martin Ramirez, great-aunt Angie Ramirez, and uncle Joe Ramirez;

although ownership of Bar America was later sold to a local business

group, the land is still owned by the family despite rapid

development in the area; Mr. Correa previously worked with his

father, Enrique "Henry" Correa, the longtime owner of Cinderella

Bakery, which has delighted guests with its signature pan dulce and

many other delicacies in the Greater Gardendale neighborhood for 65

years; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in San Antonio, Brian Correa is a

veteran of the U.S. Army; in 2018, he opened Don Martin's Coffee

Co., which he named after his grandfather, and today, he is the

owner of Texas Dog Co. and Beer Garden, a popular spot in the USAA

area that features a dog park, sand volleyball courts, and local

food trucks; he is also the co-owner of Amor Eterno, a craft

cocktail bar in Southtown near Bar America; and

WHEREAS, By carrying on his relatives' tradition of

entrepreneurship, Brian Correa continues to strengthen the culture

and economy of the Southtown community and the greater San Antonio

area, and his family's contributions will be remembered and

appreciated for many years to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Brian Correa on his success in his

business ventures and extend to him sincere best wishes for the

future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Mr. Correa as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
