H.R. No. 1075

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Members of Keep Texas Beautiful are gathering at the

State Capitol on May 7, 2025; and

WHEREAS, In 1967, the Beautify Texas Council was founded by a

diverse coalition that included the Texas Department of

Transportation; the organization's initial goal was to improve the

appearance of cities and highways in advance of the 1968 HemisFair

in San Antonio; and

WHEREAS, The council became an affiliate of Keep America

Beautiful, and in 1985, it was renamed Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc.;

it earned top honors from the parent organization for its vision and

dedication; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, Keep Texas Beautiful has developed

its own extensive affiliate program in nearly 300 communities,

large and small, all across the state; it collaborates through its

affiliates with a wide range of organizations, from government

entities to churches and high school groups, connecting people who

share a love of community and a respect for the environment; and

WHEREAS, Keep Texas Beautiful partners in TxDOT's Don't Mess

with Texas campaign to raise awareness of the harm caused by

littering; in 2024, members collected over a million pounds of

trash and recycling and planted more than 3,000 trees, contributing

well over 100,000 volunteer hours; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, Keep Texas Beautiful has worked

tirelessly to fulfill its important mission, and its contributions

to the Lone Star State have earned the great appreciation of

residents and visitors alike; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby recognize May 7, 2025, as Keep Texas Beautiful

Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting

delegation; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
