H.R. No. 1093

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Captain Chris Kemp is retiring from Lubbock Fire

Rescue on May 17, 2025, drawing to a close more than 25 years of

dedicated service to the city; and

WHEREAS, Following in both his father's and brother's

footsteps, Chris Kemp joined Lubbock Fire Rescue in August 1999; he

was promoted to equipment operator in March 2007 and to lieutenant

in December 2011, and he went on to serve as captain for over a

decade; and

WHEREAS, Captain Kemp has further contributed to his

community through his efforts as president of the Lubbock

Professional Firefighters Association; during his tenure, he

played a vital role in the LPFFA's COATS4KIDS initiative, which

delivers winter jackets to local children in need; in retirement,

he plans to stay involved with COATS4KIDS and to spend time with his

family; and

WHEREAS, Chris Kemp's leadership, hard work, and commitment

to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of Lubbock and

earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow first

responders, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well

spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Chris Kemp on his

retirement from Lubbock Fire Rescue and extend to him sincere best

wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Captain Kemp as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
