H.R. No. 1107

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the

passing of the Reverend Perry Cameron Colston on April 24, 2025, at

the age of 67; and

WHEREAS, The son of Victoria Jones and Nathaniel Colston Sr.,

Perry Colston was born in Nacogdoches on May 2, 1957; he grew up

with the companionship of three siblings, Nathaniel, Barbara, and

Michael, and he devoted himself to his faith at an early age as a

member of Iron Wheel Missionary Baptist Church; he graduated in

1975 from Nacogdoches High School, and his performance on the

football team merited him a four-year scholarship to Texas

Christian University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in

psychology in 1979; and

WHEREAS, While attending TCU, Reverend Colston met and

married Stephanie Carter, and the couple became the proud parents

of a daughter, Stacie; after that marriage ended, he wed Wanise

Haywood in 1988, and they were blessed with a son, Cameron; with the

passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his treasured family

grow to include a number of grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Colston received the call to ministry while

in the early stages of his career in the pharmaceutical industry; he

preached his first sermon in 1982, and he was later ordained by the

Reverend Edwin G. Deese of Christ Fellowship Missionary Church; at

the time of his passing, he was ministering under the leadership of

Pastor Remus E. Wright of The Fountain of Praise in Houston; and

WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to his family, his faith, and his

community, Perry Colston earned the lasting respect and admiration

of all who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Reverend Perry

Cameron Colston and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his

passing; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Perry

Colston.
