H.R. No. 1113

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Martha Black is retiring as senior associate

director of admission for boarding recruitment of St. Stephen's

Episcopal School in Austin in 2025, drawing to a close an exemplary

tenure with the school that has spanned three decades; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Black, a fifth-generation Texan, joined the

office of admission at St. Stephen's in 1995 as a scheduler and

receptionist, and she has earned multiple promotions over the

years; in her current role, she has traveled thousands of miles

across the U.S. to recruit talented students to the school; in

addition, she has led new student orientation, planned numerous

admission events, and served as the longtime sponsor of the Key

Society, the campus volunteer group; and

WHEREAS, In retirement, Ms. Black will have the opportunity

to spend more time with her grandchildren, read, travel, and

garden; and

WHEREAS, Through her dedication, leadership, and expertise,

Martha Black has greatly benefited the students and staff of

St. Stephen's Episcopal School and earned the respect and

admiration of all those who have been fortunate enough to work with

her, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as

she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Martha Black on her retirement from

St. Stephen's Episcopal School and extend to her sincere best

wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Ms. Black as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
