H.R. No. 1122

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at

the tragic loss of Officer Sam Lively of the Tyler Police

Department, who passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 25; and

WHEREAS, The son of Steve and Bonnie Lively, Sam Lively was

born on November 23, 1999, in Dallas and grew up with the

companionship of two brothers, Phillip and Benjamin; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Tyler,

Officer Lively joined the Tyler Police Department on September 5,

2023, and he went on to distinguish himself in his duties until the

time of his passing; and

WHEREAS, Officer Lively attended Green Acres Baptist Church

and First Baptist Church of Lindale; in his leisure hours, he

enjoyed pursuing his interests in music and photography, and he

took great satisfaction in hiking, playing golf, working out,

running marathons, and other physical activities; and

WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Lively demonstrated an

enduring commitment to serving others, and he provided valuable

support to his fellow officers and to the members of his church

congregations and the wider community; and

WHEREAS, Sam Lively was a courageous and determined law

enforcement officer who embodied the highest ideals of his

profession, and he will forever be remembered with great admiration

and affection by those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Officer Sam Lively

and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his

parents, Steve and Bonnie Lively; to his brothers, Phillip Lively

and his wife, Breanna, and Benjamin Lively and his wife, Alaina; to

his nephew, Peter Lively; and to his other relatives, his many

friends, and his brothers and sisters in blue; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sam Lively.
