H.R. No. 1144

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Major Christopher J. Foote of Georgetown is retiring

from the United States Marine Corps in 2025, drawing to a close an

exceptional military career that has spanned more than two decades;

and

WHEREAS, A 2005 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy,

Christopher Foote earned his wings as an AH-1W Super Cobra

helicopter pilot two years later; he subsequently deployed on

consecutive tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in

Afghanistan, Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, and global

counterterrorism efforts with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit;

and

WHEREAS, Major Foote's impressive skill and leadership

earned him selection to the prestigious Weapons and Tactics

Instructor course, a seven-week curriculum that uses advanced

tactical aviation tools to train student pilots to become experts

and instructors on their particular aircraft; most recently, he has

been stationed with the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory in

Quantico, Virginia, an initiative that uses concept development,

experimentation, prototyping, research, analysis, and wargaming to

aid in innovation amidst the ever-changing global balance of

military capabilities; and

WHEREAS, In the next phase of his career, Major Foote has

taken a position as a medevac and a search and rescue helicopter

pilot in command with the Maryland Department of State Police

Aviation Command; and

WHEREAS, Christopher Foote's courage, expertise, and

devotion to duty have greatly benefited the defense of our nation

and earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may

indeed reflect with pride on his outstanding record of service as he

embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be

it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Major Christopher J. Foote on his

retirement from the U.S. Marine Corps and extend to him sincere best

wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Major Foote as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
