H.R. No. 1160
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sofía Aguilar of Socorro High School was named an
outstanding performer at the UIL State Mariachi Festival held in
Seguin from February 20 to 22, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Through her exemplary musical performance on
guitar, Ms. Aguilar distinguished herself among hundreds of
top-tier high school musicians from across Texas; in recognition of
her achievement, she earned a draped state gold medal; and
WHEREAS, Known for her commanding stage presence and
technical precision, Ms. Aguilar has played an integral role in the
success of Mariachi Los Gavilanes; a leader in her ensemble, she
also serves as a mentor to younger members of the program; and
WHEREAS, This talented young musician has demonstrated a
commitment to excellence through hard work and many hours of
practice, and she is a source of great pride for her fellow
students, her family, and her many supporters in the community;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Sofía Aguilar on being named an
outstanding performer at the 2025 UIL State Mariachi Festival and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Aguilar as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
