H.R. No. 1166

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Cattleman's Steakhouse in Fabens has distinguished

itself for more than a half-century with its dedication to

hospitality, immersive experiences, and the traditions of the Old

West; and

WHEREAS, Located at Indian Cliffs Ranch approximately 30

miles east of El Paso, this popular destination was founded in 1973

by Dieter Gerzymisch as a steakhouse with breathtaking sunset

views; today, it boasts award-winning steaks, walking trails, and a

small zoo, and several films have taken advantage of its desert

landscapes and authentic Old West movie sets, including
Courage

Under Fire
,
The Border
, and
The Book of Eli
; and

WHEREAS, Among its many accolades, Cattleman's Steakhouse

won the 2024 Best of the Border Community's Choice Awards for

all-around restaurant, dining experience, steakhouse, romantic

restaurant, and wedding venue; over the years, it has also received

recognition from
Men's Health
magazine,
Texas Highways
magazine,

and the
El Paso Times
, and it has been featured on Discover

America's
Destination Steak
as one of the best steakhouses in the

country; and

WHEREAS, A cherished setting for many occasions, Cattleman's

Steakhouse has won the loyalty of countless West Texas residents

and visitors, and it has attained the status of a treasured

community institution; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Cattleman's Steakhouse on its

success and extend to all those associated with Indian Cliffs Ranch

sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
