H.R. No. 1180

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Joselyn Villa Prado of Americas High School in the

Socorro Independent School District has distinguished herself in

her responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State

Representative Mary E. González; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of her internship, Ms. Villa Prado

has provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of

challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable experience in

the field of public service, she has learned more about the

legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star

State; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Villa Prado is a member of the Libertas Academy

at Americas High; through the program, she has completed

dual-credit coursework in law, criminal justice, and legal research

and writing, among others; she also is captain of her school's color

guard team, and under her leadership, the squad set the program

record score at the Winter Guard International Regionals in

Orlando, Florida; she previously served as flag line leader and was

honored with the Outstanding Flag Award; moreover, she has taught

incoming students as a Spring Civics Camp leader and has

volunteered with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and

El Paso Villa Maria women's shelter; and

WHEREAS, Joselyn Villa Prado has performed her duties as a

legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed

deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore,

be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commend Joselyn Villa Prado for her service as a

legislative intern in the office of State Representative Mary E.

González and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued

success in all her endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Ms. Villa Prado as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
