H.R. No. 1188

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Nicholas Rodriguez of Americas High School in the

Socorro Independent School District has distinguished himself in

his responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State

Representative Mary E. González; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of his internship, Mr. Rodriguez has

provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging

tasks, including helping to draft resolutions and memos and

analyzing local and global news; in addition to gaining valuable

experience in the field of public service, he has learned more about

the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone

Star State; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez has developed a solid foundation in

government and law as a student in the Libertas Academy, which

focuses on civic education, public policy, and community

engagement; passionate about advocacy and service, he volunteered

more than 120 hours, helping vulnerable populations with El Pasoans

Fighting Hunger Food Bank and the El Paso Villa Maria transitional

women's shelter; he also mentored incoming freshmen and

participated in various school-sponsored camps and events; his hard

work was rewarded with a scholarship to attend Kansas State

University; and

WHEREAS, Nicholas Rodriguez has performed his duties as a

legislative intern with skill and dedication, and he is indeed

deserving of special recognition for his fine work; now, therefore,

be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commend Nicholas Rodriguez for his service as a

legislative intern in the office of State Representative

Mary E. González and extend to him sincere best wishes for

continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Mr. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
