H.R. No. 1249

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Jaime Macias, the owner of Jaime's Place in

San Antonio, has distinguished himself as an outstanding example of

the entrepreneurial spirit of the Lone Star State; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Macias opened his bar and restaurant in October

2020 after converting a two-story home in San Antonio's historic

West Side; since its establishment, Jaime's Place has benefited

from the support of Mr. Macias's wife, Dorothy, and his four

children, Jaime Patricio, Gabriela, Aracely, and Jacob; Patricio

and Gabriela have served as the bar's general manager and social

media director, respectively, while Aracely set up the bar's

digital infrastructure; in addition, Jacob has helped out as

needed; and

WHEREAS, Thriving despite the challenges posed by the

COVID-19 pandemic, Jaime's Place garnered widespread attention

after putting up a sign that read, "Unbow your heads, 78207," a call

to celebrate the West Side neighborhood and its rich Mexican

American heritage; the establishment went on to appear in a 2021

article and in a Food Network web series called

; today, the bar remains a local favorite where family

and friends gather to enjoy a drink and dance to live music; and

WHEREAS, Through his creativity, resilience, and hard work,

Jaime Macias has earned his business the status of a treasured

community institution, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his

achievements; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby recognize Jaime Macias for his contributions to

the San Antonio community as the owner of Jaime's Place and extend

to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Mr. Macias as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
