H.R. No. 1260

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, El Paso Children's Hospital is celebrating the 13th

anniversary of its founding in 2025; and

WHEREAS, The idea to establish a hospital in El Paso

specializing in pediatric care was first conceived by a group of

concerned citizens in 1993, and after years of advocacy, Thomason

Hospital took on the project; in November 2007, local voters

approved a bond issue for the facility, and on February 14, 2012,

the hospital opened its doors; and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, El Paso Children's Hospital has

helped to decrease outmigration for pediatric subspecialty and

surgical care by 80 percent; accredited by The Joint Commission and

the College of American Pathologists, the hospital is home to a

Level IV neonatal intensive care unit as well as the Southwest

University Pediatric Blood and Cancer Unit; moreover, the facility

has the distinction of being an affiliate of Children's Oncology

Group; and

WHEREAS, Over the past 13 years, El Paso Children's Hospital

has provided expert and compassionate care to countless young

Texans, and the members of its medical, support, and administrative

staff may indeed take great pride in its outstanding record of

service; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commemorate the 13th anniversary of El Paso

Children's Hospital and extend to all those associated with the

institution sincere best wishes for continued success with their

important work; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the hospital as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
