H.R. No. 1279

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Joy Chanslor has distinguished herself in her

responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State

Representative Yvonne Davis during the 89th Legislative Session;

and

WHEREAS, Ms. Chanslor is a participant in the Texas

Legislative Internship Program, which was founded by State Senator

Rodney Ellis in December 1990; administered by the Mickey Leland

Center on Hunger, Poverty, and World Peace at Texas Southern

University, the program provides students from Texas colleges and

universities with a unique opportunity to receive academic credit

while serving as interns in the Texas Legislature, in various state

agencies, and in local government; and

WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Chanslor has provided

vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks;

in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public

service, she has learned more about the legislative process and the

issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and

WHEREAS, A recent graduate, Ms. Chanslor earned a bachelor's

degree in political science from Texas Southern University in fall

2024; she has previously worked as a staff member for State

Representative Jolanda "Jo" Jones and as a community canvasser for

Texas Tool Belt; moreover, she has generously given of her time as a

volunteer with Project C.U.R.E. and the Houston Food Bank; and

WHEREAS, Joy Chanslor has performed her duties as a

legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed

deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore,

be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commend Joy Chanslor for her service as a

legislative intern in the office of State Representative Yvonne

Davis and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in

all her endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Ms. Chanslor as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
