H.R. No. 1296
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Greater Houston Frontiers Club Day at the State
Capitol is taking place on May 20, 2025; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Frontiers Club is a chapter of
Frontiers International, which was founded in 1936 by Nimrod B.
Allen, a respected leader in the African American community; the
organization initially focused on promoting civic engagement among
African American men, and it later opened its membership to women;
and
WHEREAS, Since its inception nearly three decades ago, the
Greater Houston Frontiers Club has awarded over $1 million in
scholarships to underserved high school students in Harris County;
the volunteer organization has further contributed to the community
through events and initiatives such as the annual Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr. Memorial Scholarship Breakfast, Toys for Kids, Wreaths
Across America, and Turkey on Every Table; in addition, it has
partnered with a number of other groups to improve the quality of
life for area residents; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Houston Frontiers Club has made a
positive difference in the community and empowered countless young
Texans to achieve their full academic potential, and it is a
pleasure to join in honoring the organization for its
contributions; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize May 20, 2025, as Greater Houston
Frontiers Club Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to
the visiting delegation; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Greater Houston Frontiers Club as an expression of
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
