H.R. No. 1319
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
passing of Milburn Walter Dearing of Boerne on May 1, 2024, at the
age of 82; and
WHEREAS, The son of Walter and Cora Dearing, Milburn Dearing
was born in Fredericksburg on September 18, 1941, and grew up with
four siblings, Agnes, Carolyn, Willard, and Delbert; he attended
Texas State University on a football scholarship and then worked
for Stroeher and Son for several years; in addition, he served as a
staff sergeant in the Ready Army Reserve at Fort Polk with Company
B, 871 Construction Engineers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dearing went on to graduate from the Texas Game
Warden Academy, and he began his career with the Texas Parks and
Wildlife Department stationed in Odessa until 1967, when a job
opening in Kendall County allowed him to relocate to Boerne; he
earned master peace officer and civil process proficiency
certifications, and he taught the hunter safety course to hundreds
of students; and
WHEREAS, After 35 years of service, Mr. Dearing retired as a
sergeant game warden in 2002; the Kendall County Commissioners
Court soon appointed him as constable of Precinct 2 and he served in
that role until 2015; along the way, he also protected weddings and
other family gatherings as a security guard; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Mr. Dearing volunteered
with Kendall County EMS as an intermediate EMT, instructor, and
examiner, and he was named the 1990 EMT of the Year by the Boerne
Kiwanis Club; moreover, he gave generously of his time and talents
to local schools and helped with scouting projects; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dearing shared 57 years of marriage with the
love of his life, the former Laverne Pfeiffer; they were blessed
with four children, Darrell, Dennis, Denise, and Danette, and three
grandchildren, Frank, Elizabeth, and John; devoted to his family,
Mr. Dearing was a kind and thoughtful friend to many as well; he had
a wonderful sense of humor and a host of interesting stories; in his
free time, he enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, and
sharing his passion for the outdoors; and
WHEREAS, Milburn Dearing earned the admiration and affection
of innumerable people, and although he is deeply missed, his
commitment to his family and his community remain a source of
inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Milburn Walter
Dearing and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his
passing; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Milburn
Dearing.
