H.R. No. 1326

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and enthusiasm drew to a close

on November 19, 2021, with the passing of Sara Vela of Mission at

the age of 50; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Jose Guadalupe Vela and Ester Vela

Botello, Sara Vela was born in McAllen on October 30, 1971, and she

grew up with the companionship of two brothers, Carlos and Jose;

after graduating from Mission High School in 1990, she earned a

degree in interdisciplinary studies from South Texas College; she

went on to enjoy a long and rewarding career working for Hidalgo

County; and

WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Vela was engaged in

local politics; above all else, she cherished time spent with her

friends and family, and she was a devoted aunt to her niece, Dehra,

and her nephews, Daniel and Aaron; and

WHEREAS, Admired for her warmth, kindness, and generosity,

Sara Vela brightened the world for all who knew her, and they will

forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sara Vela and extend

sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sara Vela.
