H.R. No. 1342

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, A 65th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of

mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Douglas and Susan

Freeman of Lexington celebrated this joyous milestone in their

marriage on April 29, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman first met at the Houston

Livestock Show and Rodeo in their youth; smitten, Mr. Freeman

"borrowed" her senior photo from a pal and kept it in his wallet;

two years later, a mutual friend called to let him know that she was

home from her freshman year at Texas Tech University, and they

subsequently went on their first date; their courtship blossomed

over the summer, and she transferred to Sam Houston State

University to be closer to him; they became engaged that October;

and

WHEREAS, Joined in matrimony in 1960, the Freemans settled in

Katy, where they raised four daughters, Jennifer, Lauren, Allison,

and Shannon; they moved to Lexington in 1983; over the years, the

couple has set an inspiring example through their unwavering

dedication to each other, to their cherished family, and to their

community; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman have enjoyed six and a half

decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they are

among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a

lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Douglas and Susan Freeman on their

65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for

continued happiness; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Freeman as an expression of high regard

by the Texas House of Representatives.
