H.R. No. 1346

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The 50th anniversary of the Association of Water

Board Directors-Texas is taking place in 2025, offering an

opportunity to celebrate the organization's long history and many

achievements; and

WHEREAS, AWBD-TX was established in 1975 as a growing number

of utility districts were established in the state to provide water

and other services as new communities were built and metropolitan

areas expanded; from the outset, the association has been dedicated

to improving water district operations and management through

education, unification, and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, AWBD-TX facilitates the exchange of ideas and

expertise among the directors of utility districts; in addition, it

sponsors conferences, seminars, and other informational and

educational events, enabling members to stay current with industry

developments and technology as well as the laws and rules that

affect their daily operations; the organization's programming is

designed to promote efficiency and to help members save time and

expense; and

WHEREAS, Through the years, AWBD-TX has grown to encompass

more than 1,000 members, including a variety of different types of

districts as well as consultants, suppliers, and vendors; the

organization's committees monitor the public policy arena and

notify the Texas Legislature and government agencies about urgent

issues; and

WHEREAS, Utility districts contribute immeasurably to the

prosperity and sustainability of Texas communities, and for a half

century, the Association of Water Board Directors-Texas has

assisted these entities in carrying out their vital work; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the

Association of Water Board Directors-Texas and extend to all those

associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued

success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
