H.R. No. 1374

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, U.S. Army veteran Lorissa Gonzales of Clint served

her country with great honor and distinction as a member of the

armed forces, and the occasion of Memorial Day on May 26, 2025,

provides a fitting opportunity to posthumously honor her for her

dedicated military career; and

WHEREAS, On Memorial Day each May, citizens across our state

and nation come together for a day of solemn remembrance of those

servicemen and servicewomen who so valiantly served their country

and who gave their lives in the line of duty; each of these

individuals made the noble decision to place country before self,

and their sacrifice echoes through generations; their absence

leaves a void that can never be fully filled, but their legacy is

etched forever into the soul of our nation; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Gonzales proudly served with the U.S. Army as a

hospital administrative officer during the Vietnam War era; and

WHEREAS, Demonstrating the utmost dedication and bravery

during her years in uniform, Lorissa Gonzales upheld the highest

ideals of the United States armed forces, and her fellow citizens

owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and service of U.S. Army

veteran Lorissa Gonzales; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lorissa

Gonzales.
