R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The fourth annual Round Rock Pride Festival is

taking place at Centennial Plaza on June 7, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Held each year since 2022, the Round Rock gathering

furthers the long history of Pride events throughout the United

States and beyond; in June 1970, the first Pride marches were held

in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago to mark

the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, which had

galvanized the LGBTQ rights movement; the enthusiastic response far

exceeded expectations, and the parades became annual celebrations;

other cities, states, and countries began to develop their own

Pride events, and in recent years, the tradition has expanded to

suburbs and smaller towns and cities; and

WHEREAS, The Round Rock Pride Festival was launched by

Richard Parson to celebrate the area's diversity in an atmosphere

of safety, acceptance, and love; the festival is staged by the Round

Rock Pride organization, which also sponsors other events

throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, Members of the LGBTQ community contribute

immeasurably to the vibrancy of Central Texas, and the Round Rock

Pride Festival offers a welcome opportunity to gather in

appreciation of the richness we gain through equity, inclusion, and

the freedom of self-expression; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commemorate the fourth annual Round Rock Pride

Festival and extend to all those in attendance sincere best wishes

for a memorable and enjoyable observance.
