H.R. No. 1391
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
a close with the passing of Osmond Bernard Scott of Ganado on
May 23, 2025, at the age of 51; and
WHEREAS, Born to J. C. and Lucy Oakmon Scott on November 24,
1973, Bernard Scott graduated from Ganado High School in 1993; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Scott demonstrated a lifelong dedication to
serving his fellow citizens; he was a veteran firefighter and EMT,
and he led the Ganado Volunteer Fire Department as fire chief; he
also worked for the Jackson County Emergency Services District
No. 3 and taught rescue and extrication at the Texas A&M
Engineering Extension Service Fire Training Academy, and he was
president of the State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association
of Texas Guadalupe District; in addition to his commitment to fire
service, he gave back to the wider community as a member of the
Jackson County Youth Fair board; moreover, he developed a wealth of
knowledge in various subjects through the years, and his expertise
in farming, animal husbandry, and equipment maintenance was highly
sought after; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Scott enjoyed the love and
support of his wife, Paula, and he took great pride in his children,
Damon, Eric, Caleb, Marcie, and Bethany, as well as his
grandchildren, Westin and Paisley; and
WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Bernard Scott
leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far
richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured
place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Osmond Bernard
Scott and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his family: to
his wife, Paula Scott; to his children, Damon Scott, Eric Scott, and
Caleb, Marcie, and Bethany Gutierrez; to his grandchildren, Westin
and Paisley Scott; to his brothers, Jonathan Fowler and his wife,
Lauren, Zachary Oakmon and his wife, Pamela, and Eric Oakmon and his
wife, Patricia; to his stepfather, Jimmie Fowler; and to his many
other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bernard
Scott.
